I painted Rolling Free as a celebration of beautiful, relaxing days at the beach. It's dusk, a lovely time at ocean's edge when dancing clouds catch the setting sun and create brilliant, streaming hues of pink and gold and lavender on sky and sea and seagulls swoop and soar, fishing for their dinner. In this peaceful pastel painting, we have a run-away ball -- or was it left behind? It's moving fast, tracing a path through the sand. I wonder where it will be when tomorrow comes?
