I hope you enjoy this brighter site with larger, clearer images of my and other artisans' works. Though it looks very similar to my old site, there are differences and we are still making adjustments to layouts. Please excuse our dust! About the artist
Ellen Rice is an acclaimed professional artist working from her longtime home and studio in southeastern Delaware about a mile in from the Atlantic Ocean.
She has been painting since a small child, winning her first statewide award in grade school, selling her first oil painting to a fellow art student as a teen, beginning what was to become a strong following nationally, then globally in coming years.
Today, Ellen is considered one of the mid-Atlantic's most collected fine artists. Her landscapes, portraits and inspirational works have earned her the title Best Artist many times (see below). Her paintings and fine art reproductions can now be found gracing private homes, offices, government and corporate collections throughout the United States and in 18 countries on four continents.
"Breathtaking" and "Luminous" are ways people describe her landscapes and seascapes, but it is her inspirational Strength of Woman Series that sets her work apart and are collected worldwide.
"Light is at the center of all of my paintings. A friend once told me to always be aware of what I was thinking while painting, that people viewing the work will feel it. Each brush stroke carries the thoughts and feelings behind it. It's so much more than technique. It's what brings smiles to people's faces and speaks to the heart.

Celebration Series of 25 rare small paintings passes the halfway mark

Ellen's Celebration Series of 25 small original paintings is past the half way point, with less than 10 in this limited series remaining to be painted in this strictly limited collection.

Centrally located on the Delmarva Coast, enjoy art and nature while visiting
Pasture Point Cove in the James Farm Ecological Preserve adjacent to Ellen's studio is portrayed in "Seclusion"
The view above is a short walk from Ellen's home on the west side of the James Farm Ecological Preserve. The preserve and its wild inhabitants have found their way into a number of her oil paintings. This one was a fundraiser requested by the original James Farm manager, the late Jim Alderman. Studio visitors can enjoy making a day of exploring Ellen's art and walking the many trails of the preserve on both west and east sides.
For more serious art lovers in search of original paintings, her studio showcases a range of oil paintings, pastels and drawing—though please note that many originals sell while still in progress. Custom paintings for private individuals, businesses, corporate entities, and non-profits may also be commissioned on a limited basis. Call Ellen for an appointment to discuss your commission idea.
A growing collection of nearly 200 gicle'e reproductions of Ellen's original paintings, and gifts featuring some of her most popular ones, are available at the studio. Gift items bearing images of her her paintings include her most popular porcelain ornaments, journals, 15 oz. coffee mugs, keepsake boxes, mousepads, bookmarks and clocks, They are available online, in her studio, and by phone, with entry-level open stock archival prints starting at $45.
Hand-embellished, custom size reproductions on canvas are a step between an original painting and a paper giclée reproduction. They look like and are treated the same as originals when framing. No glass or matting are required. Ellen individually hand-embellishes each of these archival works. As with all of her limited editions, these come with the painting's story and a certificate of authenticity.
The studio accepts all major credit cards (in person, online, and by phone), as well as Apple Pay and checks.
