"A Moment in Time"

by Ellen Rice

There are times when I'd like to stop the clock and make everything stand still so I can soak up and hold onto the beauty of the moment.

I often feel this way when I watch the ocean. Its ceaseless ebbing and flowing are a rhythm that is reassuring, even in the midst of a storm. No matter how furious the storm, everything eventually returns to normal.

My pastel painting, "A Moment in Time," was inspired by memories of days many years ago when my late husband, son and I enjoyed spending long days at Delaware Seashore State Park in Fenwick Island, Delaware. They were peaceful days, ending with peach-tinged twilit skies.

Let the world rush by. For this moment, I'm going to imagine standing on this twilit beach and experience it fully, appreciate this part of the amazing journey that is life, and follow the horizon as far as I goes.

You're invited to come along with me.
