Silent Sentinel

Silent Sentinel by Ellen Rice is the official restoration project artwork, requested by the Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation for its fundraising drive. It recreates a scene from the past while looking toward the day when this Delaware WWII Watchtower between Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach would be fully restored. That day has come. Today visitors can read about its role in World War II on the site of this tower and climb to its top to see the same view wartime volunteers and service members could see so many days ago. The view today, though, is minus the German U-boats that were spotted off the coast more than a few times.

Ellen's prints are museum quality gicle'es made using the finest inks, papers and canvas and faithfully reproduced from her original paintings. Image sizes listed don't include margins. Reproductions on paper larger than 12" x 16" are signed over Ellen's embossed seal, numbered and titled in pencil in the margin. Canvas gicle'es are signed and numbered in gold or silver ink along the lower edge. Open stock prints are signed and titled by Ellen in the lower margin.
