With Wings as Eagles

In Ellen Rice's oil painting, "With Wings as Eagles," the artist illustrates how the meaning of the Bible verse, "They that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles," came to her when visiting Mirror Lake in Utah and hearing the wings of an eagle flapping behind her, coming out of immense pine trees and then not flapping its wings at all but rising higher and higher until it was soaring far above the tallest mountain and into the clouds, relying solely on a power other than its own, in this case, technically, riding on thermal air currents. It is doubted the writer in Isaiah knew about thermal drafts.
